"Portal" Proposal for a new hospital in Norway

"Portal" is a proposal for an open call of art in public space at a newly built hospital in Norway. We proposed to install a functional door in two locations, one near the front entrance and the other in the back near the chapel.

A hospital is a liminal space where all who enters, and those who work there are in contact with the liminal stage of healing, dying and being born. 
By giving this ordinary door, the title "Portal" we wish to explore the notion that any ordinary door in the hospital have the possibility to be a life changing entry. 

In architecture a portal can be a gate, entry, end of tunnel. In literature a portal can be a magical or technological doorway that connects two different locations, dimensions, or points in time.
