Untitled art fair - Miami Beach, Benrubi Gallery 2019
In Locus gilded trees performance, the artist duo use 24 carat gold leaf to gild a living tree using honey as natural adhesive.
Locus has performed gilded trees in Palermo, Moscow, Everglades, Humboldt, Hamar, Sognsvann og Västra Ämtervik.
The performance created in the Everglades, Florida (USA) was exhibited as a video during the Miami Art Week at Untitled Art Fair at Benrubi Gallery with Coral Projects.
By using the traditional human medium of gilding something sacred we attempt to connect with and honor the trees and nature at large.
We see our gilded tree performance series as an attempted dialog, where by connecting and honoring the trees we interact through the historically traditional human medium of gilding something sacred.
We see a shift from the anthropos/human-centered worldview and to a broader, more balanced way of living and understanding of the world.
This includes honoring and nurturing all aspects of nature.
